Laboratory alert from GIA. Just recently the Gemological Institute of America has recalled more than four hundred twenty diamond grading reports. The reason for that incident were treated diamonds which haven’t been declared so in advance. It’s obvious that diamond traders tried to deceive GIA to get good diamond reports which would significantly raise the value of the original diamonds. With special treatments the color of diamonds can be temporarily improved up to three grades. That’s a grave misdemeanor and hopefully the diamond dealers will be called to account for that. What a big financial damage if you buy a diamond with a wrong GIA certificate. This incident is also a big image loss for GIA itself.
